<aside> 🕗 tl;dr (too long; didn't readinstructions: The reflection should describe your experience with creating the problem sets and doing the peer reviews. If you write a word document, it should be 500+ words. If you handwrite something, it should be 5+ paragraphs. If you record audio/video, it should be 4.5+ minutes. Overview

The overview for this assignment is very similar to the overview for the summary, so don’t be alarmed if a lot of the information here looks familiar! :)

Objective: The purpose of the reflection is to share your experience with the concept portfolio assignment. My hope is that reflecting on your experience will (a) help you realize how much you have learned or consider what you still might want to learn more about and (b) give me (Dr. Claire) information about how to improve the learning experience for future students as part of the concept portfolio assignment.

Audience: The reflection is for me (Dr. Claire) to help me understand what the process was like for you in completing the concept portfolio. I am especially interested in how you think the assignment might have supported your learning and what didn’t go as well so that I can improve the assignment next time and do a better job facilitating learning as the instructor.

Medium: Similar to the problem sets, you can choose a medium that works well for you. However, keep in mind that your medium should allow you to share quite a bit of your thoughts, so a slideshow/PowerPoint may not be the best option here since they are usually used for bullet points and short pieces of writing (although feel free to try it if you want!).

You can write formally with complete sentences and in paragraph form, or you can be more casual and creative with maybe recording an audio or video reflection (or any alternatives you can think of!).

Minimum Requirements:

There are no specific prompts you need to respond to for the reflection, but some options and ideas are provided in the instructions section below.

There are some requirements on length to make sure you are meeting expectations for the reflection. Because you can use different mediums for your reflection, I have done my best to provide various types of minimum requirements to give you a sense for how much you need to include. Basically, I want to give you room to be creative while also providing a baseline of my expectations so you can feel confident in your work!

If you are unsure if your reflection is long enough, reach out and ask me (Dr. Claire)! You can send me a Canvas message or an e-mail at [email protected].

Instructions

Your reflection is an opportunity for you to think about how the concept portfolio helped your learning of calculus this quarter. My hope is that reflecting on your experience will (a) help you realize how much you have learned or consider what you still might want to learn more about and (b) give me (Dr. Claire) information about how to improve the learning experience for future students as part of the concept portfolio assignment.

Here are some possible prompts for you to answer in your reflection (you do NOT need to discuss all of these — they are just ideas):
